"VisionQuest"

With Robert Standing Bear
and Tricia McCannon

Summer 2004

Have you ever been drawn to the wilderness and yearned to find out why? Have you had fantasized about rafting down a wild river, exploring the mesas and caverns of the ancient Native Peoples or riding horseback in the west? Have you had a fascination with the Native American culture and been drawn to its teachings? Have you felt close to animals and wondered whether they had some wisdom teaching for you? Have you wanted to do a Vision Quest and not known how to begin? If these ring true, this journey is for you.

Tricia White Dove has been known for her extraordinary voyages into unusual places with amazing peole. Now she has teamed up with Robert Standing Bear, a native Tsalagi (Cherokee)Kutan Priest Spiritual Elder to join her in giving you a journey into your inner and outer selves.

Our trip begins in Albuquerque, moving quickly into the treasures and beauty of old Towne Santa Fe. From there we journey into the profoundly sacred, haunted home of the Anasazi Indians who vanished without a trace in the 13th century. We stop at the Chimoy Church, a small adobe sacred spot known for the miraculous light that has been seen to emanate from it.

Once in Taos we explore the plaza, the museums and art galleries of this magical western town. We spend half a day at the Pueblo village still open to visitors today where the people live as they did two hundred years ago, awaiting the propehcies they know will come. We raft down the river during the day, ride horses, and soak beneath the stars in a hot tub.

And then for those who are ready, we journey north to the Seven Winds for five additional days letting Robert Standing Bear prepare us for our VisionQuest. The Native American Vision Quest is a powerful time of going inward for life claritiy. Some of the greatest leaders and prophets of America have been given their life's purpose at that time.

The Vision Quest is usually done for four days and four nights with sweatlodges before and afterwards. It is usually accomplished with complete fasting. You will be offered the same opportunity for two days totally alone on top of one of the sacred mountains. Fasting is preferred, but for those whose body chemistry makes it difficult to fast, juice or rainforest tea will be permitted.

Whether you are wanting a fun ceremonial western excursion for only a week, or wish to continue into more serious teachings, we welcome you for this wonderful trip.
